Spell Jars

Hey witches! I hope you all are having a wonderful summer, it goes by so fast! I can’t believe we are already past the first harvest. I’m always trying to create blog posts that are useful with information that can help answer some of the most commonly asked questions I get asked. If there’s a subject you would like a blog on let me know! This one is about spell jars mostly because I feel they are practical, carry with you or put where it’s needed magick and because I love them. From a tiny necklace to a mason jar they are so useful in my opinion. I love how they are contained spells that you can gift or carry. They also fit the craft part of witchcraft beautifully.

Create a Spell Jar
When creating any spell it’s always best to first create a clear intent and build up from there. You want to select ingredients that reflect that intent and what it looks like to you. You may feel you need courage and strength or some other aspect like luck or assistance for your end result. This makes the jars you create personal for you or the person you are making it for. Select the jar that fits it’s function. Do you want it carried or placed in a specific spot?

Ingredients
You can add whatever fits! Herbs, crystals, pictures, items, names or intent written on paper, whatever you can fit in your selected jar.

Finishing
Spell jars are normally sealed in some way after the lid or cork is placed. Often it’s done with a candle burned on top so the wax runs down the jar. This also creates that wonderful witchy look and they can turn out incredibly beautiful or mystical. This may not work for those small necklace jars for wearing. You can seal your jar anyway you see fit and it doesn’t have to be with a candle or wax. Bury, gift, carry with you or place in the perfect location as your spell requires.

I’ll end with some spell jar ideas I have shared on the page. What are your favorite jars to make? I’d love to see them! Happy crafting!
